Art Meets Fashion!

I am down to the last three gowns for AMF. I am sooo ready to be done! It has been a very busy three months. I can't count all the hours I have spent sewing to get ready, I'm looking forward to the event; but also excited to have a little more me time and catch up on my school work!

Silk Ribbon Embroidery

I have been facinated by silk ribbon embrodery, since I was a teen. I knew I wanted it on my wedding dress, which it had. I spent hours making flowers and hand emboidering my wedding dress. I finished it 2 days before the wedding!

I've continued my love for the art of it. By first featuring it on my gowns and by my new line of heirloom sashes.

An heirloom sash is something, I've intended to be passed on and worn for each special occiasion in a girls life. A young bride, first wears the sash at her wedding, to add a little pizzaz and color to her wedding dress. Her bridesmaid can also have head band ribbons made up to match the brides sash. The bride picks her colors and flowers to cordinate along with her theme. Each flower is hand made and embellished with crystals.

When this bride has her first daughter, the sash can then be used to adorn the baby's blessing or christening dress. Creating special memories of the promises made on that wedding day and reminding the Mother of the promises she made that day to her new family.

As the daughter grows, there is the religious coming of age ceremonies, baptism and first communion. The sash then adorns the child's dress. It then can be worn for other coming of age ceremonies like a Quinceanera.

Once the daughter, finds that special someone and plans her wedding day, the heirloom sash can then be used again, to embellish the wedding dress or even as a bouquet wrap as the bride walks down the isle.

Each sash is completely customizable. Sashes can be made as a full sash made out of fabric (in a variety of shapes and sizes) stitched on as applique to a grosgrain ribbon belt or head wrap. The bride chooses her sash color and fabric and then picks the style of design, a cluster (pictured above on the baby pink sash) or a vine-like design (pictured on the taupe grosgrain ribbon) and then her colors and flowers. Lily Bride Designs can do any type of flower to match your wedding's flowers. Roses, violets, lilies, exotic flowers, cherry blossoms, forget-me-nots, even birds and butterflies just to name a few! Our silk ribbons can even be custom dyed!

Aimee is a young photographer, who lives by me. I asked if she'd like some bridal photography practice and she was thrilled to do a shoot for me. She suggested taking the pictures at the Hindu Temple in Spanish Fork. I thought the location was perfect to feature my Greece inspired gowns.

You can find Aimee's work on facebook under aimsphotography. This is one bright photographer, who will take the fashion/art world by storm, very soon. She is very talented at such an age. She has already received national awards for her work..and I heard one of her photos will be a book cover! Congrats Aimee!

The day we picked happend to be perfectly sunny as we left, but as we arrived at the temple, it was a typical August rain dump storm. I was so worried, we'd wasted our time and would not be able to shoot. Thankfully, our Utah weather cleared up a bit and we had a rain free window of almost 2 hours. The storm also worked to our advantage, as you'll see in later shots. The wind blew the chiffon dresses around to make some amazing shots. And we were lucky enough to score on the fact, we were able to capture a beautiful storm sky in grayish blues and sunset colors thanks to the storm.

This beauty above just won Miss teen davis county (if my gossip is correct ;)

I was so lucky enough to use Wyatt who later rocked the runway at NY fashion week.

Well...I'm a little behind on updating on pictures. Things are so busy getting ready for the Art Meets Fashion show, October 15th. I am on my last group of gowns and have 4 weeks to finish them!

Jon shot my dresses for the grand opening of Tissue Fine Fabrics and Design Gallery. It's my friends fabric store she opened last March. He was so amazing and wonderful to work with. He immediately knew what I wanted for my photos and made the girls modeling feel so comfortable by keeping the mood light and fun. His sense of vintage flair, were perfect for the four tea-length gowns I was showing that night. Jon did a lot of fun editing too, which I thought was unique. Just all around a pleasant person to work with and I would for sure recommend him for your wedding and bridals. I can't wait to find an excuse to make more gowns to work with him!!
